Scanning Negatives
Technology | July 23rd, 2004The saga of the wedding picture scanning is nearly complete. Having borrowed a Minolta DiMage Scan Speed SCSI scanner and downloading Vuemage, the real trick was getting the right version of Linux to boot.
Knoppix 3.2 did not have the proper level of the libraries needed to run the scanning software. However, after upgrading to the latest version of Knoppix things were equally difficult since it now ostensibly requires a bootable CD-ROM drive. Fortunately, the Knoppix 3.3 distribution was ideal for this and scanning is now fully functional.
Next stop is the camera store for a cleaning device, even the smallest dust particle looks like a Himalayan mountain peak.

Technology | July 19th, 2004It’s been a while since my last posting, but after getting married in June my life has been so full of activity that I haven’t really had a chance. At any rate, feel free to checkout my wedding site and perhaps even visit the registry? Ahem; there are still a few things we are waiting on.
